I'm Dr. AF

Yes, those are my real initials.

My full name is Dr. Annaleah Figueredo, ND, and I created Dr. AF to make health education feel more human, useful, and connected to real life.

After years of studying health, practicing medicine, translating science, and navigating my own health journey, I keep coming back to one question:

What is health, really?

For me, health is not about becoming perfectly optimized. It is about learning how to live in your body with more understanding.

Your sleep, stress, emotions, food, movement, history, responsibilities, and access to care all matter.

That is the part health advice often skips.

And that is the part I care about most.

The Why

I created Dr. AF because I wanted a place to teach health without turning it into another report card.

So much health advice sounds helpful at first, but quickly becomes another list of things to track, fix, buy, or feel guilty about.

That is not what I want this space to be.

Dr. AF is here to help you understand what is happening in your body, reconnect with your own signals, and define health in a way that actually fits your life.

Not perfect health.
Not performative wellness.
Just clear education, real context, and a little more room to be human.

The Dr. AF Foundations Framework

Health is rarely just one thing.

Your sleep, stress, emotions, movement, and food all affect each other. But most health advice talks about them like they live in separate little boxes.

And, well, humans are gonna human.

We’re all different. Our bodies, histories, stress loads, responsibilities, resources, and nervous systems are different too. So the goal is not to force yourself into a perfect health formula. The goal is to understand your patterns and choose support that actually fits your life.

That’s why I teach through the Dr. AF Foundations Framework.

Sleep

Sleep is one of your body’s most powerful tools for repair, reset, and recovery. But it is not just about having the perfect night routine. It is shaped by stress, timing, emotions, habits, light, and what your brain has learned to do when the day finally gets quiet.

Stress Management

Stress is not just a mindset problem. It is a full-body experience. I teach stress through the nervous system, your body’s information highway, because stress responses are often misunderstood, ignored, or treated like personal weakness.

Heading for grid item

Emotions are not separate from health. They show up in the body, influence your patterns, and give you information about what needs attention. Regulation is not about being calm all the time. It is about building capacity to feel, process, and respond.

Movement

Movement is not punishment for having a body. It is one way we reconnect, support circulation, build strength, move stress, and remember that we are allowed to take up space. I teach movement as support, not performance.

Food

Food is not a moral test. It is nourishment, energy, culture, access, and relationship. I teach food without diet-culture noise, so we can talk about appetite, blood sugar, digestion, and body cues without turning eating into another place to fail.

Together, these foundations help us ask better questions.

Not “What am I doing wrong?”
But “What is my body trying to show me, and what support might actually fit my life?”

My background

Before Dr. AF, I spent years studying health, working in patient care, doing microbiology research, and translating medical information into language people could actually use.

I hold a doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree, and I completed a two-year family medicine residency. I also have a background in microbiology and biochemistry, including research fellowship experience and peer-reviewed publications.

But the thread that connects all of it is translation.

Whether I was working with patients, creating bilingual health materials, doing radio segments like Let Me Translate Your Doctor, or building educational content, I kept coming back to the same role: helping people make sense of their bodies without making them feel small, broken, or overwhelmed.

That is the heart of Dr. AF.

Science, real life, and health education that remembers there is a person on the other side of the information.
